Join our June 14 field trip to Community Beer Works

Our first summer “field trip” will take Slow Food Buffalo Niagara and its friends to Buffalo’s award-winning Community Beer Works for a tour and sample tasting.
We also will be joined by the Roaming Buffalo food truck for individual food purchase.
The event will run from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Community Beer Works, 15 Lafayette Ave., Buffalo. The tour/tasting will cost $5.
New York’s first nanobrewery, Community Beer Works began providing fresh, high-quality, local beer in April 2012. Its motto is “Embeer Buffalo.”
”Our goal is to foster a sense of community and place, enriching our hometown through the production of damn good beer,” CBW says on its website.

It adds:” The founders of CBW all have roots in Buffalo and we want our brewery to be an integral part of our city and the neighborhood our brewery is located in. We are donating our spent grain to the Massachusetts Avenue Project, disposing of it in an ecologically friendly, mutually beneficial manner, and are planning similar partnerships with other community organizations in the city.”
Community Beer Works was named Best New Brewery in New York State in the RateBeer Best 2012 Awards.
CBW’s The IPA took second place in the Brewing News2013 National IPA Championship, beating six other breweries head-to-head, including Founders, Bear Republic and Fat Heads.
Christopher and Valerie Taylor are the proprietors of the Roaming Buffalo, one of our region’s first food trucks. Their menu features the B-Lo Classic Burger, “Dizzle Burger” and the notorious WTF!?!? Burger, topped with bacon jam and peanut butter.

Chris and Val were introduced to the readers of The Buffalo News in a recent People Talk column.
